Companies within Fisheries Iceland (Samtök fyrirtækja í sjávarútvegi, SFS) have established a social responsibility policy that is based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The policy focus is on the environment and innovation. Proper and responsible treatment of natural resources is vital for ensuring that fish stocks in Icelandic waters continue to be sustainably harvested. As a result, environmental issues play a major role in the policy. Much has been achieved in this area in recent years, but the goal is to do even better. Skinney – Þinganes has signed the policy and its implementation has already begun.
